i hav the exact same problem
just figured it out. There is a second part of the html that needs to be replaced.
Scroll down the txt document to find:
/* -- basic html elements -- */
Here u should find a 2nd link that needs to be replaced with ur own details.

Any idea why the template looks great when viewed through Netscape, but is misaligned (especially the sidebar) when viewed through any other browser (such as Internet Explorer, or Avant, etc.)?

I seem to have a unique problem.... my sidebar seems to be tagging along at the bottom of the posts. Any ideas? I have seen it happen in other places sometimes and it happened when i appended my own sidebar contents into your template.

I have finally managed to change my site template thanks to the advice of Nomaadic in these comments. You should really update your advice to include this as it would have saved me an hour or two of increasing frustration.

Problem solved when i switched back to "classic template"... when using blogger beta, when u want to edit html under templates, at the bottom of the page, there's this link "revert to classic template" or something like tat.. so click that and it would switch back to original blogger. and just follow his instructions.

I have a solution for you. If you create blog, it switches you to the new version, alternatelly coded. Allyou haveto do is to switch to the "classic template" and there to paste all code, realyy all codes availableon many blogs outthere and these too.

Are you using new layouts or old blogger? If you are using new blogger, then get the javascript code for the counter and chatbox, then click "add a page element" link in page layouts and select "HTML/javascript" element and paste all the code there. Well i solved the other problem except now this time the pictures are not working agian.
I have followed all the instructions for the beach template. I even go the error as you said in your last step of instructions so I clicked revert to classic template. Now I just have a black background with my usual text. How do I get the beach picture to show?
